30 Day Infertility Blog Challenge: Day 24

24.How has your financial situation affected your infertility journey?

Good question!  If it weren't for insurance coverage and good luck with a first IVF, we would not be parents.  We definitely would have had to look into foster adoption.  For sure.

And right now, baby #2 is completely up in the air, dependent on a number of things, but the biggest, of course being MONEY.  Sigh.

As it is, we still put out nearly $10k of our own money so far...I have no idea how we'll do it again.

  1. Can you believe it's been almost 8 years since we began IF treatments and we're STILL paying it off?? We used our HELOC to pay for all our treatments because our med insurance didn't cover anything (except some meds, here and there, but that's only because I finally figured out a way to cheat the system).

Our inside joke is when the kids ask why we can't afford to send them to college, we'll tell them to look in the mirror.

But you know what, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Every penny was well spent!

Added you to my blog roll!!!

  2. Sweetie, do you know the saying "Where there's a will there's a way"? So if you want to go ahead for baby #2 you'll find a way to make it work. Not now, surely, P is still very small and your little frozen embryos are not going anywhere, there's no rush and no pressure. Love, Fran
