Acronyms in IF and Blog Land

This is a not entirely comprehensive list of acronyms I may use most frequently on my site.  If I use a new one, I will try to add it to the list.  


2WW = 2 week wait

AF = Aunt Flow (menstruation)

BBS = breasts

Beta = Beta blood test, tests for pregnancy hormone


BCP = Birth Control Pills


BD = Baby Dance (aka sex, or baby-making sex)

BFN = Big Fat Negative (on HPT)

BFP = Big Fat Positive (i.e. PREGNANT!)

BPM = hearbeat beats per minute

B/W = blood work

CRL = Crown to Rump Length -- measuring the bean

DPO = Days past ovulation

DPT = Days post transfer

Dx = Diagnosis

Endo = Endometriosis

ER = Egg retrieval

ET = Embryo transfer

FET = Frozen Embryo Transfer

HPT = Home Pregnancy Test

HSG = Hysterosalpingogram

IF = Infertility

IL = In-laws

IVF = In Vitro Fertilization

KS = Klinefelter Syndrome

MFI = Male Factor Infertility

O = Ovulate

OPK = Ovulation Predictor Kit (tells when you O)

Pg = pregnant, pregnancy

PGD = preimplantation genetic diagnosis

PIO = Progesterone in Oil shots

POAS = Pee on a Stick (take HPT)

PUPO = Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise (ie, have had ET and now in 2WW)

RE = Reproductive Endocrinologist

SA = Semen Analysis

Stims = Stimulation hormone shots

TTC = Trying to Conceive

TTTC = Trouble Trying to Conceive

UR = Urologist

US = Ultrasound

WTF=What the fuck? -why didn't this work
