Constipation Station

That is going to be the new name for my blog.  Seriously.  Remember I said yesterday that I got a migraine from pooping?  It was finally (mostly) resolved yesterday.  And then this morning happened.

45 minutes.

45 minutes of yelling, sweating, crying, pleading, grunting fun.  It took me THAT LONG to get enough out of my system to allow me to walk upright again.  I am waiting for a call back to let me know if I can use a stool softener.  Because this is INSANE.

And TMI.  I know that.  But seriously?  I have always been regular.  Really regular. 2-3 times a day regular.  Oh, body, the things you are doing to me are simply amazing.  I was on the verge of begging Hubby for an enema.  I'm serious.  Frighteningly serious.  I thought, "At least it will get the beast OUT OF ME!!!"

I have described migraines as having a gremlin or 2 inside my head/upper back, trying to claw its way out.  Not the cute fuzzy Gizmo type of gremlin.  The fed-after-midnight type.  All claws and fangs.  Well, now there is also one living in my intestines and colon.

Gremlins, please go away.  A little bit.  Please....

  1. Good luck! I would think the stool softeners would be ok...

  2. I totally feel you!!! I have been taking duco-lax (well the generic version) since the week of my retreival. If I don't, I can go DAYS without a bowel movement. Its the white bottle with the purple cap. If your doc no-nos meds, try activi@. That worked really weel to keep me regular before I was pregnant.

  6. Ugh... I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Stool softeners should be okay, one of my docs suggested them in my first trimester.

I hope things get moving along soon!

  7. girl, get yourself some calcium-magnesium supplements. take at night, and you will be moving in the morning. at least, that's been my experience.

    careful you don't overdo it.

  8. My breakfast consists of a whole can of soy chili and 2 servings of raisin bran cereal. Yep, I had it bad but this seems to work once the nausea subsides long enough to keep it down.

  9. Eat prunes and more fiber... I promise, they will help!! I am so sorry - nothing is good about constipation!

  10. No amount of fibre was going to help me when I was pregnant; that's for DAMN sure. I tried fibre supplements, more veggies, more water, prunes, bran, etc. NOTHING worked. So I talked to the doc and the pharmacist...

And then I spent about 8 months taking 2 docusate sodium pills per day to relieve the constipation. It helped. It worked. And it's safe!

  11. Try increasing your water intake. That might help both the constipation and the headaches. I'm sorry you are feeling so miserable.

  12. So sorry this is happening, seriously it is enough to make anyone feel awful. Hope you can take a stool softener or do something else to help!

  13. Hahahahahahaaa, I know it's not a laughing matter and very painful but you just describe it SO well :) I'm happy to say there's only been a couple of those episodes so far, and I hope to avoid them in the future because OUCH!

  14. Oh noo! I'm quite sure you can take something, but I know you know it's quite normal (although I actually had the opposite problem!) and you are not alone on the headaches from pooing (not!), my DH any time has a headache says "maybe I have to poo!"

  16. Oooh...I know that feeling of having bowels charged up in Mount Chokey!!!

But there are some things I want you to know/remember:

    1. Talk to your doc, and get a laxative. It is quite okay in the first tri... In fact, I used it even in the beginning of the second tri...and then phased it out as soon as bowels resumed to normal.

    2. Add more fibre, and fruits...eat fruit rather than having juices.

    3. Do NOT apply pressure...it is better to not poop than pulp out the bowel to behaving...it applies pressure to the uterus as well, which is what we would not want. (I read it somewhere, that when constipated do not take any reading material to the toilet seat with you...because after a while we instinctively start applying pressure...)

  17. I just started getting a bit of the "c-train," as I like to call it (in contrast with the "d-train"). I'm finding that mixing large amounts of oat bran (as in, 1-2 tablespoons) into whatever I'm eating for breakfast is helping a lot. And I totally feel you on the pain--it's so much more painful now than before pregnancy!
